My Friend Rob I met Rob for the first time at the age of seven sailing model boats on Canoe Lake which turned out to be the start of a lifetime friendship. We shared many experiences together, from raiding my father’s drinks cabinet and spending the night on Hayling beach with the car stuck in the sand, to being given the honour of being his Best Man at his wedding to Marita, then later being asked to be Godfather to their daughter Deborah. We had many shared interests, firstly motorbikes as teenagers, we used to race each other up the Eastern Road before the traffic lights and roundabouts existed, Rob usually won, just. Our interests then moved to boats and membership of the ECA, as he sold and moved up to better boats, he liked to keep the same boat name “Lady She” which had a second home at weekends in Bembridge Marina. We spent many wonderful evenings together on Lady She, he usually had a special bit of news for discussion the conversations were always entertaining. I will always regard Rob as having been my best friend, he was at heart always a gentleman with traditional values, he once said to me that he loved Marita with all his heart and would be lost without her, now they are together. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral, New Zealand is too far away, but know I will be with you in spirit. My best wishes to you all on this sad occasion. Regards Keith Passey

Thank you for creating this tribute to Robert and supporting Rowans Hospice Charity at what must be a difficult time. Supporting the work of the Charity in memory of a loved one is a very special way to remember them and celebrate their life. We hope that you find it a positive experience developing the tribute and that it becomes a place of comfort and inspiration for you to visit whenever you want or need to such as birthdays, anniversaries and on days that are special to you. Thanks to your support the Charity can continue to there for those who may need local Hospice care across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.
